Training Round

This is the first official CyberPatriot event of the year! Students will get to try out new images from CyberPatriot and some will get their first experience with the competition.

Practice Round

CyberPatriot competitors will have their first experience of what an official round will actually be like without the help of mentors. This will be the last training and practice opportunity before the actual competition starts

Welcome to the first official scored CyberPatriot XII round! Teams will be competing for points to advance onto the state round in one of the three different tiers.

Round 2

11/16/19
9AM – 5PM

Round 2 is the last chance for competitors to gain points for the CyberPatriot State Round before being placed in a tier.

State Round

12/7/19
9AM – 5PM

CyberPatriot competitors have now been separated into their tiers based on skill level (platinum, gold, silver) Now points are needed to continue on into the Semifinal round and then Finals!

Semifinals Round

1/25/20
9AM – 5PM

This will be the final round of CyberPatriot for most competitors as only 36 teams progress to finals. Only the top teams in each tier will be able to compete in this round!

Coastline, Cypress & Irvine Valley Colleges cordially invite OC CyberPatriot students, their families, coaches, and faculty to join us on Friday, April 3rd, 2020 at the Robert B. Moore Theater. CyberPatriot teams will be recognized for their outstanding achievements in the 2019-2020 academic year.


CyberPatriot XII Workshops

Windows Command Line, Linux Terminal, and Cryptography

Attending students will be able to choose from 3 different workshops for the day. Both Windows command line and Linux Terminal will cover efficient usage of commands to advance in CyberPatriot and also introduce basic scripting for automation of easy point catching from easily solved vulnerabilities. Cryptography will introduce students to encryption and decryption standards and hashing in order to prepare them for more advanced Capture the Flags.

During the CyberPatriot Training Round, teams will have to divide their efforts and participate in not only CyberPatriot but also in the custom designed Capture The Flag. This CTF is a collaborative effort within SoCalCCCC and will allow students from different schools and colleges to compete against each other. Aside from basic CyberPatriot vulnerabilities, students will be tested on Cryptography, Stenography, and other topics.

Python Programming Workshop

Participating students will be introduced to the basics of programming by learning to code with Python. Universal concepts applied in programming languages

Packet Capturing Workshop

 In this workshop, students will learn how to capture and analyze network packets traveling through a network. They will be using network tools that are used in the field today, such as Wireshark and Nmap. With these skills, students will understand and recognize the network traffic that’s constantly being transmitted, invisible to the human eye.

Remote CTF

Since this is a remote CTF, participants can compete from their own devices anywhere they have access to the internet. Coastline College will be closed so please do not show up to our door!

Digital Forensics Workshop

9AM – 1PM

Students will be introduced to the digital forensics profession and learn how to investigate legal and technical issues involving computers and digital technology within businesses, law enforcement, and court systems. Students will learn how to utilize Windows and Linux file systems in order to acquire, analyze, and report data that is necessary for criminal and civil cases. Each individual will be given flash drives to uncover digital evidence during activities, in which students will learn how to recover files, investigate data, and write reports.
